BESTSELLER supports EuroCham Myanmar Garment Advocacy Group's call for a review and update of the country’s minimum wage for garment workers. The statement highlights the urgent need for an updated wage floor that reflects workers’ cost of living—an issue that has grown increasingly acute since the last minimum wage adjustment in 2018.

Through our regular engagement with workers, trade unions, and labour rights organisations in Myanmar, low wages are consistently raised as one of the most pressing concerns. Consequently, BESTSELLER has engaged extensively with factories in our supply chain to increase wages. The majority of factories in our supply chain have taken voluntary steps to increase salaries, however, the lack of a statutory update continues to place pressure on workers’ livelihoods across the industry.

Claus Aabling, Labour Rights Manager at BESTSELLER, commented:

“Low wages are a systemic challenge that cannot be solved by one actor alone. Therefore, we believe that speaking up is an important part of our responsibility as a sourcing brand. We support EuroCham Myanmar’s call for a review of the minimum wage and recognise that an increase in the minimum wage is essential to promote fair working conditions and strengthening the overall resilience of the garment sector in Myanmar.”

In line with international expectations

BESTSELLER applies heightened human rights due diligence in Myanmar in line with international expectations and OECD guidance for responsible business conduct. We continue to engage with our suppliers to promote decent wages while also supporting worker-focused measures. However, addressing the wage challenge requires broad-based action, including a functioning legal framework and collaborative efforts across the industry.

We remain committed to conducting business responsibly in Myanmar and to reporting transparently on our efforts and challenges. You can find more detail in our Myanmar Human Rights Due Diligence Report (March 2025).

Only the facade remains of the historic corner building on Gammeltorv, which, after several years of extensive renovation, now reopens as BESTSELLER’s new flagship store. The renovation has been carried out with a focus on creating a modern retail store, but with great respect for the building's original architecture and preservation value.
While the fashion industry continues to face challenging conditions, BESTSELLER has succeeded in delivering results that point toward progress in its 2024–2025 financial year. These results create the foundation for accelerating the company’s development and transformation. This happens in the year in which BESTSELLER celebrates its 50th anniversary.

As part of BESTSELLER’s ongoing actions towards integrating textile-to-textile recycled polyester within its supply chain, their leading women’s brand ONLY has transformed a jersey-programme of basic tops to recycled polyester made from textile waste.
The investment from BESTSELLER follows a substantial grant from the EU, ensuring that German innovator matterr is now ready to advance plans on their upcoming factory in a bid to scale polyester recycling. The strategic partnership with matterr is part of BESTSELLER's ongoing investments in the development of future materials.
BESTSELLER is currently in the midst of significant investments across the business – from sustainability initiatives to digitalisation and new market activities in a number of countries where the company aims to expand. To support this development, Line Andrea Fandrup is joining as CFO.
