It takes investment to move fashion forward. That’s why we’ve invested DKK 240 million to drive innovation in recent years. We do this through our innovation and investment platform, Invest FWD.
By investing both within and outside the industry, Invest FWD provides the capital to speed up positive outcomes for BESTSELLER and the wider industry on the most important issues across the full life cycle of fashion: from raw materials to production and post-consumer use. It’s about scaling ideas with capital investment.
No man is an island, they say. This goes for brands too, because there are challenges we can’t solve on our own.
That’s why we join a wide range of partnerships. Here, we work on industry-specific challenges and opportunities with other retailers, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), and industry associations.
It’s possible to recycle textile waste into virgin-quality output using chemical recycling. But what’s the best way to chemically recycle textiles?
To find out, we’re part of the Full Circle Textiles Project, as part of Fashion for Good. Here, four innovators produce chemically recycled polyester by following their own procedure.
The output – polyester pellets for eventual use in fabric and garment production from post-consumer textiles – will be assessed on quality and validated by participating Fashion for Good brands and supply chain partners. This way, we find better ways to use chemical recycling of polyester as feedstock for our clothes.
Project READY is a Danish science project focused on textile-to-textile. It’s led by VIA University College. Aarhus University and Danish Technological Institute are also contributing. So are we.
The ambition behind READY is to strengthen innovation and competitiveness. The goal is to help both large and small textile companies realise their growth potential through better production methods, new textiles, technologies, and design strategies.
Our Innovation Lab
In our lab, we look into many innovations. Recycled fibres, bio-based leathers, polyester substitutes, and alternative dyestuffs and dyeing techniques.
Innovation in textiles matters to BESTSELLER. Through Invest FWD and our work with initiatives like Fashion for Good, we assess and choose early-stage developments. When we find the right solutions, we help with scale and investment.
